Role Summary 

We are looking for a seasoned  Technical Lead (Backend)  with deep expertise in backend architecture and development, particularly in the  Card domain, Smart Vista, and Euronet platforms. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in backend development and a proven track record of leading technical teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions in the financial services sector. 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of backend systems with a focus on card transaction processing and payment gateway integration
  • Architect and implement scalable microservices and APIs aligned with business and security requirements
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to backend developers, ensuring best practices in coding, testing, and deployment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including front-end developers, QA, DevOps, and product managers
  • Drive integration and optimization of card domain platforms within the backend ecosystem
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., PCI-DSS) in all backend implementations
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and lead root cause analysis and resolution
  • Manage code reviews, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Liaise with stakeholders to gather technical requirements and translate them into actionable development plans

Requirements and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 8 years of backend development experience, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership role
  • Strong experience in Java and related frameworks (Spring Boot 3, Kafka, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of backend frameworks and design patterns
  • Deep domain knowledge in Card systems, including transaction flows, authorization, clearing, and settlement
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and agile methodologies
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

 

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Hands-on experience with SmartVista or Euronet platforms
  • Python development experience
  • Cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience in banking or fintech environments
  • Knowledge of Backend-as-a-Service (BaaS) platforms
  • Familiarity with Elixir and headless CMS solutions
  • Exposure to AI/ML applications in fraud detection or transaction analytics
  • Understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for effective collaboration
  • Familiarity with ISO 8583, EMV standards, and payment switching technologies
