What's the coolest skill you've learned?

The coolest skill I’ve learned is working with people and developing leadership abilities. Managing teams, understanding different perspectives, and helping others grow have been both challenging and rewarding. It’s fulfilling to see how strong collaboration and effective leadership can drive success in any project.

As an engineering lead and backend engineer, my day balances leadership and technical tasks. Mornings involve team updates, daily standups, and mentoring. Among the skills I've gained, negotiation stands out. As an engineer, balancing product needs with technical constraints is vital. Negotiating with stakeholders ensures feature requests align with company values and goals. This skill has been crucial in pushing back when needed and driving better outcomes for both the product and the team.

What’s the coolest thing about your job?

The best part of this job is that my voice counts. I can raise concerns when tasks stray from strategy and suggest feature improvements. Technical input on stabilization, bug fixes, and cost-saving is valued. My efforts in troubleshooting, fixing vulnerabilities, and delivering features quickly are regularly recognized by peers and leadership.

Daily meetings to catch up on progress with teams, and meetings with managers to discuss resource planning and team development strategies. Reviewing and providing technical support or new technologies for current projects. 1:1 meetings with team members to listen to their concerns, offer advice or escalate issues to higher levels if needed.
