ABOUT THE JOB

As an Engineer Manager, you will be accountable for the leadership of one or more engineering scrum teams to plan, deliver and support service features that deliver customer value and/or mature service capability. The position is also accountable for executing the people leader fundamentals in line with NAB Policies, driving a learning-based culture with an ability to set and gain agreement for realistic and stretching objectives for the team.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading one or more engineering squads to plan, deliver, and support enterprise technology solutions that improve service capability, reduce risk, and drive operational efficiency across T&EO.

The Engineering Manager partners closely with the AI Program Delivery Manager and senior stakeholders to translate business opportunities into scalable solutions, embedding AI capabilities into existing systems and workflows to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and strengthen controls.

Lead and line-manage at least one Agile engineering team, overseeing end-to-end delivery from planning to production and ongoing support
Provide technical leadership and contribute to architecture and design decisions for cloud-based and AI-enabled systems
Own engineering quality, including secure design, auditability, testability, production stability, and compliance with NAB engineering and risk standards
Ensure delivery aligns with NAB risk management frameworks and balances speed with quality and control effectiveness
Drive efficient development and delivery processes, embedding DevOps and Agile best practices
Collaborate closely with engineering managers, architects, product managers, and business stakeholders to achieve shared objectives
Manage delivery milestones, risks, dependencies, and cross-team coordination
Act as an advocate for the T‑shaped engineering model, coaching engineers to be versatile, accountable, and continuously learning
Coach teams in Scrum and DevOps, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and responsible AI adoption
Lead people management activities including 1:1s, performance reviews, career development, training plans, and probation reviews
Set, agree, and track realistic yet stretching goals to build high-performing, learning-focused teams
Fulfil other tasks as assigned by your People Leader and/or authorized representative of NAB Vietnam from time to time.

Technical environment:

Microservices architecture system
Programming –Java, Python, JavaScript, MV* patterns, Nodejs, ReactJS (including Redux)
Databases – Postgres, MongoDB
DevOps – Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube, GitHub, CloudFormation
Cloud: Multi-Cloud, AWS (Lambda, Postgres, S3, API Gateway, CLI, SNS/SQS), Azure

Must have:

10+ years working experience in Software Development; with technical background and deep understanding of software development principles, system design, and scalable architecture. 5+ years experience in managing cross-functional Agile teams.
Solid understanding of SDLC, Microservices, Product Quality, DevOps environments.
Real-world experience with large-scale Agile adoption, not just theoretical knowledge.
Proven ability to manage and deliver complex technology projects involving multiple engineering teams both onshore and offshore.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience delivering and integrating AI‑enabled or data‑driven capabilities (e.g. automation, intelligent workflows, decision support) into existing enterprise systems.
Experience in Technology Risk, controls uplift, remediation or regulated environments (highly desirable)
Strong focus on quality, detail and compliance with standards.
People leadership and ability to build high-performing teams
Experience in managing code and change management processes.
Strong ability to communicate at both strategic and operational level internally and externally, making effective decisions balancing business and stakeholder needs.
