JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Overview
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of engineers to build and operate high-quality products. This role balances technical excellence, delivery execution, and people development, while ensuring strong alignment with business goals.
2. Key Responsibilities
People Management
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers (typically 20-30+ members)
- Conduct performance reviews, provide continuous feedback, and support career development
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture
- Drive hiring efforts, including interviewing and onboarding
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical direction and ensure scalable, reliable, and maintainable system architecture
- Review technical designs and support critical decision-making
- Promote engineering best practices (code quality, testing, CI/CD, DevOps)
Delivery & Execution
- Own planning and ensure on-time, high-quality delivery of projects
- Manage backlog, sprint planning, and execution in Agile/Scrum environments
- Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation plans
- Continuously improve development processes and team productivity
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and other stakeholders
- Translate business objectives into technical roadmaps and execution plans
- Ensure alignment between engineering efforts and company priorities
Yêu cầu công việc
Must-have:
- Background in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or Information System
- 10+ years of experience in software development
- 8+ years of experience in managing web projects or product development
- Have worked as a senior Java or Golang software engineer or higher
- Experience in handling/building an engineering team (direct or indirect) of 50+ members, organizational agility
- Excellent problem-solving skills, especially in dealing with escalated or critical issues
- Good experience in people management: employee satisfaction, career growth, performance review, coaching, mentoring, 1:1 meeting
- Good experience in managing/developing B2B applications
- Good experience in Agile: Methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, LeSS) and practices
- Strong knowledge of security and robust high-performance system
- Good experience in microservices, micro-frontend, and multi-tenant architecture design/implementation
- Experience in solving complex requirements/problems both business and technology such as: Finance System, Accounting System, Banking System, Distributed System, Scalable web applications
- English skills (professional working proficiency)
Nice-to-have:
- Experience working at a similar level in an IT firm, such as Engineering Manager, Department Manager, VP of Engineering / Head of Delivery / CTO
- Able to build and scale a strong/Agile engineer team from scratch to 50: Recruitment, Software Development Process, Career Growth, Role Definition, Project Organization Structure, Engineering Culture, Continuous improvement for teams and organization
