Job description

With many years of experience in delivering cutting-edge software solutions, our company specializes in fintech, banking, and nutrition & healthy diet solutions. We run a real production estate: mature, revenue-critical systems that have served clients for years, side by side with new, fast-moving platforms under active development. We are looking for engineers who respect both.
 

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are hiring a Mid-level Software Engineer (3-5 years) who thrives in a mixed environment: one week you may be safely extending a 10-year-old service nobody fully remembers, the next you are shipping a greenfield feature under a tight deadline. You will not be siloed into "legacy maintenance" or "new development" - you own problems end to end, wherever they live.

Your skills and experience

Engineering:

  • Own features end-to-end across a mix of mature (legacy) systems and new platforms: design, implement, test, ship, monitor.
  • Maintain, stabilize, and INCREMENTALLY modernize legacy services: add characterization tests before changing behavior, refactor in small safe steps, apply strangler-fig migration where justified - and know when a rewrite is NOT justified.
  • Build new services and features with production discipline: automated tests, CI gates, observability (logs/metrics/traces), documented decisions.
  • Debug systematically across unfamiliar code: reproduce, instrument, root-cause, fix, and prevent with a test.
  • Work with data seriously across RDBMS and NoSQL, and design mobile offline data synchronization: schema design, indexes, query analysis, conflict resolution, data-integrity thinking (this is fintech - small details cause big difference).
  • Use AI coding tools (Cursor/Claude/Ollama/Hermes) daily to accelerate, while owning output quality - understand both the good and the bad of AI assistance, review everything critically, and never ship what you cannot explain.

Collaboration:

  • Teamwork is a key factor in this role: you succeed with your team, not around it. Share context, help unblock teammates, review pull requests generously, hand off cleanly, and put the team's outcome ahead of individual credit.
  • Break down ambiguous product specs into tasks, estimate accurately (+/-20%), ship without handholding.
  • Communicate openly and early: surface risks, slips, and bad news when they are still cheap to fix. Explain technical decisions to non-engineers clearly.
  • Question requirements that don't make sense; propose better alternatives with trade-offs.

Requirements

Must-haves (Prove These):

  • 3-5 years shipping production software in at least ONE mainstream stack (backend or frontend - e.g., .NET/Node/Python/PHP, or a modern web/mobile framework such as Flutter/VueJS/ReactJS), with evidence of depth: architecture decisions, real users, real incidents.
  • Evidence of learning a SECOND stack or unfamiliar codebase fast and becoming productive in weeks - tell us the story.
  • Legacy-code experience: you maintained, refactored, or extended a production system you did not write, safely. Describe how you avoided breaking it.
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals applied to real problems: data structures, complexity, concurrency basics, and systematic debugging.
  • Testing discipline: named frameworks, real coverage, CI enforcement, and at least one regression you prevented.
  • Production database competence across RDBMS and NoSQL: indexes, query plans, transactions - plus mobile offline data synchronization and conflict handling.
  • Git fluency + CI/CD experience.
  • Used AI coding tools regularly WITH critical review - show us one AI mistake  you caught and rejected.

Nice-to-have:

  • Fintech/banking/enterprise domain experience.
  • Cross-stack range (backend engineer who shipped frontend, or vice versa).
  • Observability tooling (Grafana/Prometheus/AppInsights or similar).
