Job description

Game Publishing Platform (GPP) builds and runs the core systems behind all VNGGames products - payment & billing, account & passport, webshop, and the storefronts that players use every day. Our systems serve millions of players in Southeast Asia and other international markets.

We are an AI-First team. We build large backend systems and web applications, and we also use AI tools every day to code faster, improve code quality, and automate repetitive work.

We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer who is strong in both backend (Java/Spring) and frontend (Next.js/React), and who can take full ownership of a feature from the database to the user interface.

What you will do

• Design, build, and run features end-to-end, from backend services and data models to the user interface, on systems used by millions of people.
• Develop and maintain large-scale Payment/Billing and Platform services. Make sure they are highly available, secure, and fast under heavy load.
• Build and improve our storefront on Next.js. It supports many regions and languages and has clear performance and conversion targets.
• Help shape the system architecture on both backend and frontend, and make sure the team follows the agreed design principles.
• Lead and take part in Code Review. Help raise the team's standard for automated testing.
• Use AI tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT…) for coding, review, refactoring, unit testing, and automation. Help the team turn AI usage into a clear, repeatable process.
• Mentor junior engineers and help them grow.
• Work closely with Product, QC, Design, and Operations to ship features with a smooth user experience.

Your skills and experience

Experience

• At least 5 years of software development experience, with at least 3 years using Java in production.
• At least 2 years of production experience with React and TypeScript. Next.js experience is a strong plus.

Fundamentals

• Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking, and databases.
• Able to analyze a system for performance, concurrency, and failure cases.

Technical Skill:

• Strong in Java Core and Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security).
• Production experience with Next.js, React, and TypeScript
• Experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL (schema design, query optimization), Redis, and MongoDB.
• Experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ. Clear understanding of Microservices vs. Modular Monolith and their trade-offs.
• Experience designing REST APIs, managing versions, and keeping backward compatibility.

Cloud & DevOps

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools.
• Used to monitoring systems with tracing, metrics, and logs (Sentry, OpenTelemetry/Prometheus or similar).

Skills and mindset

• Solve problems well under pressure, especially on systems that handle payments and revenue.
• Actively look for better solutions and new technology, especially AI.
• Communicate clearly and work well with other teams.
