Job description

We are looking for a skilled Backend Engineer to join our team and help build scalable, high-performance backend services. You will design, implement, and maintain APIs and backend systems that power our applications, with a focus on reliability, efficiency, and modern cloud-native practices.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement backend services using TypeScript and SQL (with a focus on PostgreSQL)
• Develop and maintain APIs that are reliable, secure, and easy to use (REST, GraphQL, or similar).
• Model and manage data effectively in relational databases, ensuring performance and consistency
• Collaborate with product and frontend teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, following industry best practices
• Monitor and optimize performance of services and queries for scalability and efficiency
• Contribute to architectural discussions and help improve engineering standards across the team
• Document technical designs and processes to support long-term maintainability

Your skills and experience

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript (or JavaScript with TypeScript experience) for backend development
• Solid experience with SQL and relational database design, ideally PostgreSQL
• Hands-on experience with at least one backend framework (e.g., Hono, NestJS, Express, Fastify)
• Understanding of system design concepts: scalability, concurrency, and fault tolerance
• Experience with API design and implementation
• Knowledge of testing practices for backend systems
• Familiarity with Git workflows and collaborative development
• Basic understanding of security principles: authentication, authorization, and data handling
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Bonus Points:

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Vercel....)
  Exposure to event-driven systems (message queues, pub/sub, streaming)
  Experience with ORMs or query builders (e.g., Drizzle, Prisma, TypeORM, Sequelize)
  Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools
  Experience working in fast-paced product or startup environments
