Job description
- Strong hands-on engineering capability across modern digital platforms, including Web (React JS) and Mobile (Mobile development, preferably React Native), with deep understanding of APIs, BFF, and microservices architecture
- Proven ability to lead and actively contribute to complex incident management, including triage, troubleshooting, and resolution of Sev1/Sev2 incidents in high-availability environments
- Strong DevOps mindset with working knowledge of CI/CD, release automation, and deployment practices
- Ability to drive continuous improvement through automation, reducing manual effort and recurring incidents
- Demonstrated leadership capability to guide, mentor, and uplift engineers and production support analysts in a blended team model
- Advanced problem-solving capability with strong focus on distinguishing root cause vs symptoms and implementing sustainable fixes
- Strong expertise in production support practices, including monitoring, alerting, observability, and operational readiness
- Ability to define and uplift observability frameworks (alerts, dashboards, thresholds) to improve early detection and system visibility
- Solid understanding of end-to-end system architecture, including dependencies, integrations, and failure points across distributed systems
- Experience driving BAU delivery, including backlog prioritisation, defect resolution, small enhancements, and regulatory uplift
- Strong stakeholder communication skills, particularly during incidents, delivery execution, and risk escalation
- Ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g. code assistants, automation tools) to:
- Improve development productivity
- Accelerate debugging and root cause analysis
- Support documentation and test generation
- Ability to contribute effectively within cross-functional squads (Product, Design, Engineering)
- Focus on engineering quality, reuse, and “configuration over customisation” principles
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with business and technical stakeholders
Your skills and experience
- Proven experience in Engineering Manager / Technical Lead roles with hands-on technical contribution, particularly in digital platforms
- Proven experience in web and mobile engineering roles delivering enhancements at scale
- Extensive experience across both Production Support and BAU delivery models, operating in a “You Build It, You Run It” environment
- Hands-on experience with:
- 5+ years experience in Mobile Development (Native or React Native) or React JS
- 5+ APIs, microservices, and BFF layers (Node.js desirable)
- 3+ Cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- 3+ CI/CD tooling (e.g. Jenkins, Harness CI/CD or equivalent)
- Experience using observability and monitoring tools (e.g. Splunk, AppDynamics, OpenSearch, Grafana) for diagnosis and decision-making
- Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g. Copilot, Cursor, automation tooling) to:
- Accelerate code development and refactoring
- Improve test coverage and code quality
- Support engineering documentation and knowledge sharing
- Exposure to data-driven decision making, including use of logs/metrics to guide improvements
- Experience working in Agile, squad-based delivery environments
- Experience balancing BAU run and continuous change delivery
