Senior DevOps Engineer Job Description
We're looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team. You'll manage and scale our infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS), but also have a unique opportunity to contribute to our backend development. This role is a great fit for a seasoned professional with a strong DevOps background who also enjoys writing code and has a passion for both infrastructure and application development.
Responsibilities
Infrastructure Management: Design, deploy, and manage our cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.
Container Orchestration: Manage and troubleshoot our Kubernetes (K8s) clusters, handling deployments, and optimizing resource usage.
Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC): Use Terraform to manage our infrastructure, ensuring our environments are consistent and reproducible.
Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain robust security practices across our infrastructure. Experience with ISO 27001 and other security frameworks is a must. You'll work closely with our security team to ensure we meet all compliance requirements.
Observability: Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, and tracing systems. Experience with AWS Observability services like Amazon CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, and Prometheus is highly desirable.
Backend Development: You will have the opportunity to develop and maintain backend services. This includes working with Node.js and TypeScript to build and optimize our GraphQL API endpoints.
CI/CD: Build and maintain our Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate software delivery for both infrastructure and applications.

Your skills and experience
- Extensive DevOps Experience: Significant professional experience in a DevOps or similar role.
- AWS Expertise: A deep understanding of core AWS services.
- Kubernetes (K8s) Proficiency: Hands-on experience with deploying and managing production-grade Kubernetes clusters is essential.
- Terraform Expertise: Proficient in writing and maintaining Terraform code.
- Security Focus: A strong understanding of security principles and experience with implementing security best practices.
- ISO 27001: Experience with ISO 27001 certification requirements is crucial.
- AWS Observability: Experience with AWS's observability stack or similar tools is required.
- Backend Skills: The ability and desire to work in a backend environment with TypeScript, Node.js, and GraphQL. Must have some experience.
- Scripting: Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash)
- Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
