About the role:

Katalon is looking for a highly technical and hands-on Senior/Lead Software Engineer to drive the development of our product platform.

This role focuses on building products and platforms at the intersection of software engineering and Agentic AI — autonomous systems capable of reasoning, decision-making, and executing complex engineering tasks with minimal human intervention.

Unlike traditional AI engineering roles centered around machine learning or data science, this role is deeply rooted in product engineering and software development. We are looking for someone who enjoys building systems end-to-end, writing production-grade code, experimenting with emerging technologies, and staying close to technical execution.

This is a highly individual contributor focused role with a long-term growth path.

Core Responsibilities:

Own End-to-End Product Development

• Build product features across the full technology stack, from frontend experiences to core application logic and system integrations.
• Write clean, scalable, production-grade code with strong focus on software craftsmanship and maintainability.
• Work across multiple layers of the engineering stack depending on product and system requirements.

System Architecture & Technical Problem Solving

• Design scalable system architectures supporting highly technical product initiatives.
• Solve complex engineering problems involving performance, scalability, reliability, and system integration.
• Drive technical design decisions and contribute to architecture evolution across the platform.

Infrastructure & Deployment Engineering

• Work with cloud infrastructure and modern deployment systems to build scalable production environments.
• Contribute to containerization, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and production deployment processes.
• Collaborate closely with platform and infrastructure teams to optimize engineering workflows.

Technical Leadership Through Execution

• Lead by technical excellence and hands-on contribution rather than people management.
• Mentor engineers through coding practices, architecture discussions, and engineering best practices.
• Stay deeply involved in implementation and technical experimentation.

Build AI-Native Engineering Systems

• Design and build intelligent software systems that power autonomous coding and AI-driven product capabilities.
• Develop agent-based systems capable of reasoning, executing tasks, and interacting with complex software environments.
• Build product capabilities around AI-assisted software development and autonomous workflows.

We are looking for engineers who love building complex systems, enjoy experimenting with new technologies, and prefer staying close to hands-on engineering work.

You likely have:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience building scalable software products.
• Strong fullstack engineering capabilities with solid Java development background preferred.
• Experience building products end-to-end across multiple layers of the technology stack.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and system design principles.
• Hands-on experience working with modern frontend technologies such as JavaScript / React.
• Practical understanding of cloud environments and deployment workflows.
• Exposure to containers, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, or DevOps-related engineering practices.
• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Strong coding ability with passion for writing production-quality software.

Nice to Have

• Experience building AI-powered products or LLM-integrated applications.
• Exposure to Agentic AI frameworks, autonomous systems, or developer productivity tools.
• Experience building engineering tools, automation systems, or developer platforms.
• Familiarity with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience working in highly technical SaaS or developer-focused product companies.
