Role Summary: Itviec’s client is seeking a highly skilled Principal Backend Engineer to lead the design and development of our backend application strategy and solutions. The Principal Backend Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable, efficient, innovative backend applications that deliver a seamless user experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in statically typed languages and cloud-native architecture, coupled with the ability to create and execute a vision for technical leadership and long-term backend sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead core technology selection and architecture design decisions for a rapidly expanding service and organization.
• Build robust backend applications with sustainable operational viability in mind.
• Plan, formulate, and execute technical strategies aligned seamlessly with overall business strategies.
• Provide expert technical leadership and guidance across the development organization.
• Lead system requirements definition phases and handle intricate domain modeling.
• Design the comprehensive architecture of backend systems.
• Maintain a hands-on approach to system design and development, including unit tests and documentation.
• Implement product features and integrations with clean, efficient code, following best practices for software development.
• Participate in thorough code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of the internal development process.

Must have:

• 8+ years of hands-on professional experience developing backend systems for web applications.
• Proven experience with technology verification, requirements analysis, architecture design, and infrastructure construction for development teams or across multiple projects.
• Demonstrated track record of resolving complex issues related to technology, products, or software development processes.
• Experience in backend development and live operation of web applications using statically typed languages and modern frameworks.
• High proficiency in developing and operating within a Docker native infrastructure environment.
• Fluent business communication skills in English, with the clear capability to complete daily tasks, text communications,and interactive meetings in English (CEFR B1 or higher level).
• Current residency in Vietnam or concrete plans to relocate. Foreign nationals must hold a valid Vietnam work permit or be legally eligible to work in Vietnam.

Nice to have: 

• Experience in the design and development of large-scale systems across multiple cross-functional teams.
• Practical experience in software development based on Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles.
• Experience working within Scrum or Agile engineering methodologies.
• Experience developing in backend languages featuring strong statically typed and functional elements, such as Rust,Scala, etc.
• Supplementary knowledge of frontend development, libraries, and frameworks like React.js or Next.js is a plus.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and operating microservices architectures.
• Solid experience developing security-conscious web applications.
• Business-level Japanese language proficiency.
