Role Summary: Itviec’s client is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to lead the team and drive the development of our software products and solutions. The Engineering Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable, efficient, innovative software applications that deliver a seamless user experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in software engineering and hands-on coding, coupled with the ability to create and execute a vision for team management, continuous process improvement, and technical excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Management: Start by managing a single development team with the expectation to scale and oversee multiple engineering squads in the future. Actively foster an internal culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence across the organization.
  • Hands-on Development & Quality Assurance: Actively participate in the day-to-day development and maintenance of software products. Safeguard the high standards of the codebase and ensure exceptional code quality through continuous code reviews, pair programming, and direct coding contributions.
  • Member Training & Professional Growth: Lead the training and development of engineering team members by executing purposeful 1-on-1 alignment sessions, providing detailed evaluation feedback, and offering career coaching.
  • Architecture & Scalable Engineering Solutions: Collaborate tightly with product and engineering divisions to design, architect, and implement robust, highly scalable software solutions that align fluidly with the company's business goals.
  • Organizational Design & Value Maximization: Handle strategic organizational design with a long-term eye on business and product scale. Proactively identify core engineering roadblocks, then plan and execute concrete measures to maximize the overall value of the engineering division.
  • Tech Culture & Talent Recruitment: Act as a core ambassador to spread the corporate tech culture, drive engineering recruitment pipelines to attract top talent, and participate in external PR activities.
  • Cross-Border Communication Coordination: Facilitate smooth technical collaboration and alignment across global, multi-national development centers using a dynamic mix of Japanese and English.
  • Adaptable Work-Style Task Execution: Effectively balance and execute managerial and technical responsibilities by adapting to anticipated workplace work styles as required by the product's needs:
    •     Technical Guidance Style: Focus heavily on team management and leverage your deep technical expertise to guide the squad toward appropriate technical decisions. While this style presents fewer opportunities for day-to-day hands-on coding, it relies on your comprehensive technical capabilities as a foundation to protect product quality through conducting critical codebase reviews.
    •     Active On-Site Development Style: Commit actively to development on the ground while simultaneously managing the team. This style provides high-volume opportunities for actual hands-on coding, allowing you to build deep trust with stakeholders and climb to higher organizational layers by delivering concrete development results, unified implementations, code reviews, and deployments.

Yêu cầu công việc

Must have:

  • Proven track record as a development team manager or Engineering Manager steering product squads to deliver results from highly complex requirements.
  • Solid foundational background as a software engineer with hands-on coding experience, with a verified ability to develop, contribute to, and review complex codebases.
  • Demonstrated experience navigating technology verification, requirements analysis, architectural design, and infrastructure construction for multiple projects or teams.
  • Strong experience driving and optimizing Agile and Scrum development workflows.
  • Excellent capability to balance technical and managerial responsibilities effectively to maintain high personal and team productivity.
  • Fluent business-level communication skills in English (cross-team collaboration is a dynamic mix of English and Japanese).
  • Current residency in Vietnam or concrete relocation plans (foreign nationals must possess a valid local work permit or legal eligibility).

Nice to have: 

  • Prior management experience working within a fast-growing, multinational, or multi-team development infrastructure.
  • Business-level Japanese language proficiency is highly advantageous.
