Job description

1. Hands-On Engineering Delivery (70%)​

• Design, develop, and maintain digital solutions using React Native and React JS​
• Deliver BAU enhancements, defect fixes, and platform improvements​
• Build and maintain reusable components and shared assets​
• Ensure solutions meet security, reliability, and performance requirements​
• Contribute to CI/CD automation and engineering productivity improvements​
• Support release, deployment, and hypercare activities​
• Investigate production issues and support root cause analysis​

2. Solution Design & Technical Leadership (30%)​

• Lead technical design activities for significant changes and platform initiatives​
• Produce solution designs aligned to enterprise architecture principles​
• Facilitate technical design reviews and architecture discussions​
• Define implementation approaches and technical roadmaps​
• Ensure consistency of engineering standards across squads​
• Review designs and code to maintain engineering quality​

3. Platform Modernisation & Technical Strategy​

• Drive technology uplift initiatives including framework upgrades, SDK updates, and architectural improvements​
• Identify opportunities for simplification, standardisation, and reuse​
• Define approaches for reducing technical debt and improving maintainability​
• Contribute to long-term platform evolution strategies​

4. Engineering Excellence & Governance​

• Establish and promote engineering best practices​
• Ensure compliance with architectural, security, and engineering standards​
• Support audit and governance activities​
• Drive adoption of automation and AI-assisted engineering practices​
• Improve observability, resilience, and operational maturity​

5. Coaching & Technical Mentoring​

• Mentor engineers and support capability uplift across teams​
• Provide guidance on design patterns, coding practices, and engineering standards​
• Support knowledge sharing and collaborative problem solving​
• Foster an engineering culture focused on quality, innovation, and continuous improvement​

6. Stakeholder Engagement​

• Partner with Product Owners, Architects, Engineering Managers, and Platform teams​
• Communicate technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs clearly​
• Influence programme and platform direction through technical expertise​
• Support planning, estimation, and delivery commitments

Your skills and experience

• 8+ years software engineering experience within digital platforms​
• 5+ years experience in Mobile Development (Native or React Native) and/or ReactJS​
• Demonstrated experience acting as Technical Lead or Solution Designer for medium-to-large initiatives​
• Experience designing and delivering scalable digital solutions in enterprise environments​
• Strong experience with cloud-native architectures and microservices​
• Experience driving platform modernisation and technology uplift initiatives​
• Proven record of mentoring engineers and uplifting engineering capability​
• Experience working within Agile and squad-based delivery models​
• Experience supporting production environments and balancing BAU with strategic technology improvements​
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve delivery outcomes and engineering efficiency
