Job description
The primary focus of this position will be the design and development of highly transactional applications for the Fortna Warehouse Execution System (FortnaWES).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Design and develop FORTNA WES applications for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) environments.
- Participate in software design reviews with clients, Software Project Management, Technical Services and Software Engineering teams.
- Collaborate with Software Project Management on project planning throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support Software QA and Infrastructure teams with the qualification, deployment and RPM packaging of WES middleware applications.
- Partner with QA to develop test plans and test automation as part of an Agile Scrum team.
- Maintain high-quality software design and project documentation.
- Provide remote support and troubleshooting for new and legacy FORTNA WES/WCS systems.
- Contribute to TCP/IP network application design and troubleshooting.
- Mentor junior software engineers.
- Support implementation teams during system qualification activities when required.
Your skills and experience
Mandatory Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Experience across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) on large-scale software products or projects.
- Strong Java development experience.
- Experience with microservices architecture.
- Strong SQL and Oracle experience.
- Experience with RPM Package Manager.
- Experience developing applications on Linux environments.
- Experience with high-transaction, time-sensitive or mission-critical applications.
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking and socket programming.
- Strong object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD) skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong collaboration, organisation, time management and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
Nice to Have:
- C++ experience.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL).
- Experience with build automation tools.
- Experience with ActiveMQ or similar messaging technologies.
- Experience with warehouse automation, WES, WCS, logistics, manufacturing or industrial software.
- Experience mentoring software engineers.
- Ability to occasionally travel to client sites for implementation and system qualification.
