Huenx AS is an AI-first consultancy and product company based in Norway. We deliver software and AI consulting services to clients across Norway and Europe, and we build our own AI-driven products. Our model brings together Norwegian business insight and senior Vietnamese engineering talent — small, highly skilled teams that work effectively with AI to deliver faster than larger organizations.

Our work spans production LLM systems — intelligent assistants, copilots, and agent-based workflows — and the data platforms that power them, across clients in multiple industries.

The role

This is a hands-on senior / lead AI engineering role. You design and ship production-grade AI systems, use AI tools as a core part of how you work, and work directly with our team and our international clients. As a technical lead, you set architecture and quality standards and guide other engineers.

Data engineering experience is a strong plus, not a requirement. Many of our AI systems sit on top of data pipelines and platforms, so the ability to work across that layer — or the willingness to grow into it — is valuable, but we're hiring first and foremost for AI depth and technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement production-grade LLM systems — retrieval, embeddings, semantic search, and agent or workflow-based pipelines.
• Combine LLM reasoning with deterministic logic for accuracy and auditability.
• Lead technically across our AI work — owning architecture, setting quality standards, and guiding other engineers.
• Deliver AI consulting projects and contribute to our internal AI products.
• Use AI tools as your default workflow to move fast without sacrificing quality.
• Work directly with international clients and teams.
• Where you have the skills or interest, contribute to the data engineering that powers our AI systems — pipelines, data models, and platforms (a plus, not required).

Your skills and experience

• English: fluent, professional English (written and spoken) is a primary requirement for this role. You must communicate clearly and comfortably with international clients. We do not hire for this role without fluent English.
• 7+ years of professional software / AI engineering experience, including technical lead experience.
• AI engineering (primary): 5+ years building production AI systems — deep, hands-on expertise with LLMs, embeddings, semantic search, and agents or AI workflows, with strong Python. This is the core of the role.
• Technical leadership: proven experience leading engineers, owning architecture, and setting quality standards.
• AI-first: proficient with AI tools for coding and daily work, and able to use them to deliver real, production-grade work. This is a core requirement, not a bonus.
• Data engineering (a plus, not required): hands-on experience with data pipelines, ETL/ELT, and data models, or a strong willingness to grow into it. Experience with Azure and Microsoft Fabric is a bonus.
• Deployment / MLOps experience is a plus.
• Able to work Norwegian business hours: 12:00–21:00 Vietnam time (ICT), Monday to Friday.
