Job description
As a Quality Engineer I, your mission will be to develop and upkeep automated test scripts that can be run repeatedly to validate code function. Note that there may also be times when you are called to assist the manual QA group as well. You will use different tools and languages to design, build, test, and deploy effective test automation solutions. You should have a more advanced skill set than a Quality Analyst who is doing manual QA testing. This position is a beginning Quality Engineer position and most will have approximately 1-3 years of experience in this position.

While functions and responsibilities are what you do, the following are your obsessions:
- Hands-on Automation Script testing with other members of the team from sprint planning through deployment.
- Establish QA standards and adopt effective testing practices while delivering results of the highest standards.
- Work together and share work between both Onshore and Offshore resources and ensure that both teams work as one cohesive unit.
- Build a comprehensive library of testing functions that can be called in regular automation to ensure that code delivered to production is bug/issue free.
- Continually expand Automation testing footprint to ensure that we have maximum coverage in Automation Test.
Your skills and experience
Functions and Responsibilities
While in pursuit of your mission and obsessions, you will find yourself doing the following:
- Acceptance testing:
- Understanding the requirements provided by customer and prepare necessary test cases
- Ensure that the new code is acceptable and resolves the issue.
- Integration testing:
- Review individual ticket in Jira.
- Test Jira tickets in the lower environments to ensure ticket goal is resolved and that the fix/enhancement is working as intended.
- Automated testing:
- Write automated test cases using Selenium for PRs.
- Implement Selenium as part of automated testing.
- Testing integrity:
- Ensure that the fix/enhancement being tested is thoughtful and scalable.
- Ensure that the fix/enhancement complies to regulations and to BeSmartee’s internal policies and procedures.
- Engage the software developer for bug fixes and modifications where applicable.
- Ensure that the fix/enhancement maintains overall integrity of BeSmartee’s products.
- Ensure that the fix/enhancement move BeSmartee’s software products forward as an overall compelling solution.
- Create and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate software functionality.
- Execute automated test scripts during all stages of development and release cycles.
- Document all testing results.
- Follow CICD planning and workflow.
- Support other departments with support tickets as required.
- Identify areas in which the product can be improved to better serve clients’ needs.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all BeSmartee applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, product owners, and other QA engineers) to define test requirements, resolve issues, and ensure high software quality.
- Communicate any technical issues, customer complaints, or potential new client projects to management.
- Continuous focus on reducing/condensing software testing including time and resources required, through systems process improvements and automation.
- Provide product, infrastructure, business process and staffing recommendations to executive leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
To best achieve your mission, you will be the type of individual that can quickly and easily learn our systems and design and build testing automation scripts with limited supervision. Additionally, you will possess the following superpowers:
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Ability to execute quickly in a start-up environment and build structure vs. having structure provided.
- Ability to learn new systems and functionality quickly
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Self organized with no monitoring required
- Previous Experience with JIRA is a plus.
- Prior experience with Selenium.
- SQL skills necessary for this position.
- Development skills necessary using selenium or other testing automation tools
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical skills and data-orientation in decision making.
- A positive, proactive mindset, combined with excellent prioritization, task management, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong, trusted relationships with colleagues.
- Ability to perform software configurations.
- Ability to design process maps and workflows.
- Analytical skills for reviewing bug reports and developing necessary tests to stream application function testing.
