Job description
- Analyze existing mainframe systems, including COBOL programs, JCL jobs, batch processes, and database structures.
- Review and understand legacy source code, business logic, data flow, and system dependencies.
- Lead technical investigation and provide solutions for system reform, migration, enhancement, and maintenance projects.
- Provide technical guidance to team members and review their work to ensure quality and consistency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, defects, batch job errors, and production incidents.
- Prepare or review technical documents, design documents, investigation reports, and migration analysis documents.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery following SDLC processes.
Your skills and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in mainframe development and/or production support (e.g.,COBOL, JCL)
- Proven experience leading a team or acting as a technical lead on mainframe projects
- Strong expertise in JCL, batch processing, and job scheduling
- Hands-on experience with COBOL development and maintenance
- Familiar with databases such as DB2, Oracle, or SQL Server, with strong SQL skills
- Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system incidents independently
- Experience in system enhancement, migration, or modernization projects is a plus
- Good understanding of SDLC and project delivery processes
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work in a global/offshore team environment
- Good English communication skills (Japanese is a plus, if required)
