Job description

OLLI Technology is seeking a Head of Engineering / Lead Technical Product Manager to drive the technical vision, system architecture, and product delivery across our AI, cloud, and IoT hardware products.

This role is designed for a seasoned engineering leader who thrives at the intersection of deep technical architecture & hardware integration (80%) and engineering team management (20%). You will serve as the technical authority ensuring our Voice AI, Cloud systems, and Smart Hardware/Embedded devices operate seamlessly together.

Key Responsibilities:

System Architecture & Hardware-Software Integration (50%):

• Design and own the end-to-end technical architecture connecting OLLI’s hardware devices (Smart Speakers, IoT modules) with Cloud Backends and AI services (LLMs, Voice AI).
• Work closely with Hardware/Embedded teams on firmware integration, chipsets/MCU selection, audio processing pipelines, and IoT protocols.
• Evaluate and adopt cutting-edge frameworks, AI/ML models, and microservice infrastructure for high-scale device fleets.
• Solve complex technical challenges in real-time streaming, latency, device connectivity, system security, and scalability.

Product Delivery & Engineering Execution (30%):

• Bridge business/hardware product requirements into detailed technical specifications, architecture blueprints, and sprint roadmaps.
• Oversee hardware-software release cycles (OTA updates, firmware deployments, cloud API versioning).
• Enforce engineering excellence, modern CI/CD practices, robust code reviews, and automated hardware-in-the-loop testing protocols.

Team Leadership & Engineering Culture (20%):

• Lead, mentor, and align cross-functional teams spanning Software (Cloud/Mobile/AI), Embedded Firmware, and Hardware engineers.
• Build a performance-driven culture focused on technical rigor, ownership, and rapid device-to-cloud iteration.
• Unblock technical bottlenecks across hardware and software teams to optimize release velocity.

Your skills and experience

Essential Technical Requirements (80% Focus):

• Experience: 7+ years in technology engineering, with at least 3+ years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Head of Engineering, Tech Lead, Lead Systems Architect).
• Hardware & IoT Expertise:
• Deep understanding of IoT architecture, embedded systems, and device-to-cloud communication protocols (MQTT, WebSockets, Wi-Fi, BLE, Zigbee).
• Hands-on experience working with Embedded Linux, RTOS, Firmware, or Hardware/PCB development lifecycles.
• Familiarity with OTA (Over-The-Air) firmware update systems and device fleet management.
• Software & Cloud Tech Stack: Strong backend foundation (Python, Go, or Node.js), Microservices, and Cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes).
• AI / ML Integration: Experience integrating AI models (Voice AI/TTS/STT, NLP, LLMs) into hardware devices or high-concurrency cloud systems.

Leadership & Soft Skills (20% Focus):

• Team Management: Proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams (Software + Hardware/Embedded).
• Communication: Professional fluency in both Vietnamese and English to align with internal teams, hardware manufacturers, and partners.
• Process: Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum/Kanban and issue-tracking tools (Jira).
