Backend Engineer (Python/Django) – EdTech

ParrotEdu is an AI-powered English learning platform for K–12 students, helping schools, teachers, and parents deliver personalized, engaging, and effective English education. We combine AI, interactive exercises, and school-aligned content to make learning fun, impactful, and scalable.

We are looking for a Backend Developer to join our team who work with PO/BA/Designer and other developers to make wonderful applications for Kids.

This isn't a typical 9-to-5 job. We need a teammate who lives and breathes the project, taking full ownership and showing unwavering dedication to our mission of transforming English education.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead backend development using Python/Django and set coding standards for the engineering team.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure REST APIs for mobile and web applications.
• Integrate with AI services and third-party APIs for content, analytics, and school systems.
• Manage the backend architecture, database design, and deployment processes.
• Ensure high-quality code delivery.
• Collaborate with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver features on time.
• Oversee DevOps and cloud infrastructure for backend services.

Your skills and experience

Must Have:

• 3+ years in backend development for Mid Level, and 1+ years for Junior level.
• Strong expertise in Python, Django, Django REST Framework.
• Experience designing scalable and secure backend architectures.
• Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, WebSocket and API integrations.
• (for Mid Level) Proven leadership developer experience in at least 1 product with 10k+ of users and 100k+ of transactions.
• Passion for education and helping kids & teachers succeed.
• Startup mindset: energetic, problem-solver, willing to work overtime/weekends when needed.

Nice to Have:

• Experience working in EdTech, preferably in English learning apps or school-based educational platforms.
• Experience with AI model integration (e.g., ChatGPT API, speech recognition).
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture.
