Job Description

About the Role/position

This position is responsible for coordinating and managing the release trains in an agile environment. They will act as a Project Manager, coaching and supporting the implementation of more effective ways of working and using Agile methodology. Overall, the Release Train Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of software releases and driving business outcomes in an Agile environment.

Role Overview

  • End-to-end program / project coordination with strong delivery discipline
  • Focus on transitioning legacy onboarding to an enhanced customer onboarding experience
  • Final phase: onboarding all “new-to-bank” customer journeys onto the new flow

Program Characteristics

  • EU regulatory program with non-negotiable timelines
  • High visibility with frequent touchpoints with Executives and Heads of (HO’s)
  • Significant stakeholder scrutiny and focus across business and technology

Your skills and experience

High-impact coordinator and stakeholder manager over a pure delivery lead—someone who can operate confidently in a complex, regulatory, and executive-facing program while effectively enabling Agile execution on the ground.

1. Stakeholder & Communication

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement is critical
  • Comfortable interfacing with senior leadership (Execs / HO’s)
  • Strong communication and influence skills across business and tech teams

2. Delivery Orientation

  • Solid understanding of delivery lifecycle; hands-on delivery experience is beneficial but not mandatory
  • Ability to manage dependencies, risks, and timelines in a structured manner

3. Agile / RTE Fit

  • Comfortable operating as an RTE in an Agile setup
  • Focus on coordination, facilitation, and flow—not on executive reporting (for example: not owning steering committees or executive packs)
  • Will align closely with an onshore RTE, with opportunity to ramp up

4. Technical Appreciation

  • Ability to read and interpret architecture diagrams and tech stacks
  • Sufficient technical context to engage meaningfully with engineering teams

5. Soft Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and team facilitation
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and operate in a high-pressure, high-visibility environment

Nice to Have

  • Prior banking domain exposure (preferred, not mandatory)
  • Experience with Australian banks is advantageous
  • Operating Model
  • Mapped to an onshore RTE for guidance and alignment
  • Cadence-driven environment with monthly releases
  • Initial focus on learning the program landscape, stakeholders, and delivery rhythms
