Job description

We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to join our team for an international Geographic Information Systems (GIS) project serving clients in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support the design, development, and maintenance of robust backend services and data
pipelines.

Your skills and experience

Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining backend systems using Java (Java 8 & 17).
- Collaborate with senior developers, frontend developers, and DevOps engineers to implement project requirements.
- Contribute to microservice development using the Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Data, etc.
- Support CI/CD practices, containerization, and deployment processes with Gitlab CI.
- Write clean, well-structured, and testable code under the guidance of senior team members.
- Participate in code reviews and team discussions to grow technical skills

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Java backend development.
- Working knowledge of Java 8 or 17 and familiarity with Spring Framework or Spring Boot and related Spring modules.
- Familiar with CI/CD concepts and tools like Git, Gitlab CI, Docker.
- Proficient in SQL, including Oracle DB and PostgreSQL.
- Experienced in Maven and Maven lifecycle.
- Exposure to Elasticsearch, Redis, or similar technologies is a plus.
- Basic understanding of logging and monitoring tools like the ELK stack is a plus.
- Good English communication skills and willingness to work in a multicultural environment.
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a supportive development team.

Nice to Have
- Exposure to GIS projects or datasets.
- Interest or experience in Linux commands.
- Understanding of RESTful APIs and SOAP APIs.
