Senior DevOps Engineer (Azure, Kubernetes, English)

Job description

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and efficient infrastructure systems.
• Collaborate with software engineers, QA, and product teams across multiple regions (Spain and the US) to ensure smooth deployment of applications.
• Automate and optimize CI/CD pipelines for fast and reliable delivery.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement fail-safe and recovery plans.
• Ensure robust security practices across all environments and platforms.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, etc.
• Provide mentorship to junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement processes.
• Review existing code, identify areas for improvement (including security), and create a roadmap for enhancement.

First Tasks Upon Hiring:

• Review the existing codebase and recommend improvements, including security.
• Create a roadmap for identified improvements and execute it.
• Optimize the deployment process, including dev and staging environments, ensuring efficient use of expensive nodes for research code

Your skills and experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in a DevOps role.
• Proficiency in Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of typical frontend/backend architecture (React frontend, FastAPI backend).
• Experience working with distant teams, particularly Spanish and US teams.
• Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, or others).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
• Deep understanding of Linux/Unix system administration.
• Strong experience in monitoring and alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Scripting skills (Python, Bash, or others).
• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Language: Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently enough to collaborate with a distant Spanish team and a US team.
