Job description
- Own automation strategy, architecture, and standards across multiple products and projects.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of automation engineers — success is measured by them outperforming and outgrowing you.
- Design and evolve scalable test frameworks and tooling that the whole QA org adopts.
- Drive AI-augmented automation across the team (AI-assisted test generation, maintenance, and triage) and hold AI competency as a baseline standard.
- Own automation coverage, reliability, and test infrastructure — CI/CD integration, reporting, and flaky-test reduction.
- Set and continuously raise the technical bar for automation code craftsmanship across the team.
- Partner with developers, product managers, architects, and QA Leads to embed quality and automation into delivery.
- Stay hands-on — write and review automation code, unblock the team, and set standards by example.
- Help build the automation talent bench — contribute actively to hiring and keep a pipeline of strong candidates warm.
Your skills and experience
- 6+ years in test automation with deep hands-on expertise in Playwright and TypeScript (or a strong equivalent), including test framework architecture.
- Proven experience leading, mentoring, and growing automation engineers.
- AI competency (required). Fluent in applying AI tools to automation and driving their adoption across the team. This is a baseline expectation, not a plus.
- Alignment with company core values (required). High autonomy, high ownership, and a bar-raising mindset.
- Multiplier track record — you build tooling and grow people whose combined impact far exceeds your own output.
- Strong programming fundamentals and a strong advocate of code craftsmanship and quality deliverables.
- CI/CD, test infrastructure, and DevOps tooling experience.
- Runs the automation function autonomously — creates clarity and standards with minimal oversight, no hand-holding.
- Actively seeks and hires people who challenge and stretch the team — hires for capability and growth, not for control.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; communicate well in English.
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
