What You’ll Do:

In this pivotal role, you will focus on developing and optimizing integrations between our Ruby on Rails application and external systems. Your expertise in building and maintaining REST APIs will enhance our digital offerings and drive innovation in our operational practices.

While no two days are the same, here’s what you can expect from this role:

• Design, develop, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby on Rails code.
• Build and optimize REST APIs for seamless integration with external services.
• Utilize tools like Postman to test and debug API calls effectively.
• Analyze logs and troubleshoot issues related to API interactions.
• Contribute to the development of robust architecture and user-centric functionality.
• Optimize performance of interactions between the Ruby on Rails application and MySQL database.
• Restructure data and improve application features for enhanced performance.
• Build and maintain scalable infrastructure to support new features and technologies.
• Ensure the security of the website and user information.
• Perform UI tests to validate system functionality.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in web development.
• Assist with planning to ensure the continued scalability of applications.

Your skills and experience

• Relevant work experience or a College diploma with coursework in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in Ruby on Rails development with a strong focus on integration.
• Proven experience working with and building REST APIs.
• Familiarity with using Postman for API testing.
• Good ability to read logs and debug issues related to API calls.
• A strong understanding of Ruby on Rails, its core principles, and workflows.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable applications and APIs (RESTful).
• Proficiency in version control (e.g., Git) and knowledge of automated testing and continuous integration.
• Understanding of application clustering, load balancing, and high availability concepts.
• Familiarity with Agile and waterfall methodologies.
• Experience with AWS is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Practical communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage projects, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages (Java, PHP, Python) is a plus.

Nice to have:

• Experience in working with SOAP APIs.
• Some understanding of the inner workings of the Rails framework.
• Experience with custom-built frameworks on top of Rails
