About the Job

We are seeking a motivated Engineering Manager (DevOps & SRE) to support NAB's Digital transformation initiatives and lead high-performing engineering teams. In this role, you will focus on people leadership, engineering excellence, capability development, and fostering a strong learning culture within your teams.

You will be accountable for the leadership, coaching, and development of one or more engineering scrum teams, ensuring engineers are supported to grow, perform at their best, and deliver high-quality outcomes aligned with NAB engineering standards.

The role is responsible for executing people leader fundamentals in line with NAB policies, building an inclusive and learning-oriented culture, and enabling teams to continuously improve their engineering practices, collaboration, and technical capabilities.

Your skills and experience

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop engineers across one or more Agile teams.
• Drive engineering excellence through adherence to development, testing, security, and quality standards.
• Build a strong learning culture and support engineers through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and career development.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, probation reviews, performance reviews, development planning, and succession planning.
• Foster a T-shaped engineering culture, encouraging collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
• Support engineers in adopting Agile, DevOps, and modern software engineering practices.
• Partner with Product Owners, Delivery Leads, Architects, and Engineering teams to ensure effective team collaboration and alignment.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives that enhance engineering effectiveness, quality, and team engagement.
• Support risk, compliance, and governance requirements by ensuring engineering teams follow NAB frameworks and standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across Technology and Business functions.
• Drive team engagement, wellbeing, inclusion, and retention initiatives.
• Create an environment where engineers can grow, innovate, and perform at their best.
