The position

Are you passionate about the next generation of AI systems that can reason, use tools, and execute real-world workflows? As an Agentic AI Developer, you’ll be joining our innovative AI engineering team that’s responsible for designing, building, and maintaining autonomous AI agents on Google Cloud. Your role will not only focus on implementing reliable agentic applications, but also on elevating our AI development lifecycle, improving orchestration patterns, and enhancing evaluation workflows and processes.

We’re looking for someone who thrives on building with LLMs, understands how agents “think,” and enjoys working with tools like Vertex AI, Gemini, and the Agent Development Kit (ADK). If you have a solid programming foundation and are eager to grow in the agentic AI space, you’ll get to take your AI engineering skills to the next level!

What you’ll be doing 

• Designing and implementing autonomous AI agents using the Google Agent Development Kit (ADK) in Python or Java
• Integrating tools such as REST APIs, Google Search, internal services, and databases so agents can interact with external systems
• Assisting in orchestrating multi-agent workflows where agents collaborate, plan, and review each other’s work
• Developing and refining prompts and system instructions using techniques like ReAct (Reasoning and Acting) and Chain of Thought to increase reliability
• Using Vertex AI evaluation tools to test agent performance, identify hallucinations, and ensure compliance with safety guardrails
• Deploying and managing agents on Vertex AI Agent Engine Runtime to ensure scalability, availability, and performance

Your skills and experience

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python (preferred) or Java
• Basic understanding of LLM application frameworks (e.g. LangChain, AutoGen) and a strong desire to master Google ADK
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), in particular AI platform(formerly Vertex AI), Model Garden (Gemini), and Cloud Functions
• Ability to work with RESTful APIs, JSON data structures, and basic SQL or vector databases
• Understanding of core reasoning patterns for agents, including planning, memory management, and tool-calling loops
• Strong command of English (both written and spoken)
• A collaborative team player, eager to learn and share knowledge

Nice To Have

• Experience with Google Gemini models and Vertex AI Studio
• Previous projects involving RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
• Basic understanding of containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines
• A portfolio or GitHub repository showcasing a functional AI agent or automation script

• An iterative learner mindset, comfortable with keeping up with new SDK updates and architectural patterns in a rapidly evolving field
