Job description
As a System Development Manager, you are the strategic catalyst at the intersection of Software Engineering leadership and Systems Architecture. You will lead a high-performing team of engineers dedicated to building the sophisticated tooling and frameworks that underpin our global security ecosystem. Your mission is to transform operational complexity into streamlined, automated excellence.
You will define the vision for our Continuous Integration and Deployment frameworks, treating internal infrastructure as a premier product. You aren't just managing tasks; you are fostering a culture of Radical Automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). By mentoring your team to build self-healing systems and robust internal platforms, you ensure that security, scalability, and reliability are baked into the DNA of everything we ship.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision: Define the roadmap for CI/CD and internal platform engineering. You align technical initiatives with business goals to ensure our infrastructure scales ahead of our customer base.
Team Empowerment & Mentorship: Lead, coach, and grow a world-class team of System Development Engineers. You remove blockers, foster a culture of "everything as code," and champion the professional growth of your direct reports.
Platform Management: Drive the strategy for internal tools, APIs, and dashboards. You ensure these tools provide a frictionless "self-service" experience for our global software teams.
Operational Excellence & Reliability: Oversee the stability of distributed systems. You lead the response to complex escalations and ensure that Root Cause Analysis (RCA) leads to permanent systemic improvements, not just quick fixes.
Ecosystem Governance: Direct the implementation of advanced telemetry and observability. You ensure the "eyes and ears" of our systems provide the data-driven insights necessary for high-stakes decision-making.
Security & Compliance Stewardship: Accountable for ensuring all systems meet or exceed strict global cybersecurity standards, maintaining the trust of our international customers.
Resource & Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with Hardware, Firmware, and Cloud leadership to synchronize development efforts and ensure seamless integration across the Avigilon/Unity, Pelco, and Alta portfolios.
Your skills and experience
Education & Experience
8+ years of experience in system development, SRE, or DevOps, with at least 3+ years in a formal leadership or management role.
Proven track record of delivering large-scale automation projects or internal developer platforms.
Technical & Leadership Competencies
Architectural Fluency: Strong understanding of Linux, networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/3), and cloud-native architectures.
Development Mindset: Ability to review and guide development in object-oriented and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go, C++).
Operational Maturity: Strong experience with IaC (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and modern CI/CD orchestration.
Language & Soft Skills
English Mastery: Advanced verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with global stakeholders.
Strategic Problem Solver: Ability to navigate high-pressure situations with a calm, analytical approach.
People-First Mentality: A passion for building diverse, inclusive teams and fostering a high-trust R&D culture.
