Job description
Linux Administration,SUSE, Redhat:
- Leads Linux administration activities including system builds, upgrades, patches, configuration, system monitoring, performance tuning, backup and recovery.
- Plan and manage patch management process for corporate Linux Servers.
- Plan, manage and tune monitoring and alerting process for SAP environment.
- Install, configure, manage and monitor Linux Operating systems on virtualized, cloud infrastructure services
- Manage Ansible Automation Platform covering activities like patching, upgrade and script development.
- Linux License Administration – ensure all servers are optimally licensed and perform license audits as per vendor requirements.
- Implement OS upgrades, enhancements, patches as needed in coordination with technical, functional teams and business users.
- Automate administration tasks using shell scripts.
- Proactively monitor and manage the environment on day-to-day basis.
- Tune the environments to ensure security, integrity, stability and optimal performance.
- Provide Linux administration support to SAP and non-SAP projects.
- Participate in design and implementation of High Availability configurations.
- Participate in System Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing.
- Research and implement best practices to secure Linux Server environment
Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration
- Install and administer SQL Server databases. Implement software upgrades, enhancements, patches as needed in coordination with technical, functional teams and business users.
- Proactively monitor and manage databases on day-to-day basis and apply enhancements and/or fixes as needed.
- Tune Databases to ensure integrity, stability and optimal performance.
- Perform periodic data refreshes.
- Ensure adherence to configuration management policies and execute database change deployments to production environment.
- Provide Database Administration support to SAP and non-SAP projects.
- Research and implement best practices to secure databases.
Other
- Participate in SAP HANA, Sybase, Max DB administration support as needed.
- Participate in SAP Basis Administration support as needed.
- Participate in System Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing.
- Resolve tickets that range from break-fixes to enhancements.
- Provide on-call support for the landscape covering Linux/SQL Server/SAP Basis Administration tasks on rotation basis
- Implement tools and procedures to support SOX audits.
Documentation, Reporting and cross-training
- Document processes, procedures and environment and cross-train team members.
- Develop and implement operational support plans and procedures for systems in scope.
- Develop and report on service metrics. Identify problem trends and implement corrective actions.
Your skills and experience
- 8 years of Linux Administration experience, preferably SUSE.
- 3 years of scripting experience in shell, Perl, Python, etc.
- 2 years of database administration and support skills preferably SQL Server.
If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:
- 2 years’ experience in SAP environments
- 1 year experience as a technical or team Lead
