Job description

We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Developer to join our team for an international Geographic Information Systems (GIS) project serving clients in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. You will be part of a dynamic, distributed team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust backend services and data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining backend systems using Java (Java 8 & 17). 
•  Collaborate with senior developers, frontend developers, and DevOps engineers to implement project requirements. 
•  Contribute to microservice development using the Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Data, etc. 
• Support CI/CD practices, containerization, and deployment processes with Gitlab CI. 
• Write clean, well-structured, and testable code under the guidance of senior team members. 
• Participate in code reviews and team discussions to grow technical skills

Your skills and experience

• 5+ years of experience in Java backend development. 
• Working knowledge of Java 8 or 17 and familiarity with Spring Framework or Spring Boot and related Spring modules. 
• Familiar with CI/CD concepts and tools like Git, Gitlab CI, Docker. 
• Proficient in SQL, including OracleDB and PostgreSQL. 
• Experienced in Maven and Maven lifecycle. 
• Exposure to Elasticsearch, Redis, or similar technologies is a plus. 
• Basic understanding of logging and monitoring tools like the ELK stack is a plus. 
• Good English communication skills and willingness to work in a multicultural environment. 
• Eagerness to learn and grow in a supportive development team
• Prefer candidates aged 24-30 years old

Nice to Have

• Previous experience in projects related to Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Interest or experience in Linux commands.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and SOAP APIs.
