Job description
- Design and validate PCBAs for power-critical components, including motor controllers, power converters and high-accuracy sensor circuits.
- Coordinate PCB layout efforts, perform design reviews, and validate prototypes through rigorous bench testing and debugging.
- Execute detailed validation tests, utilizing advanced instruments such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power analyzers, and EMI/EMC testing equipment.
- Optimize designs for thermal management, electrical noise reduction, and robust EMC compliance.
- Support system-level testing, including torque output measurements, temperature profiling, and reliability tests to ensure actuator performance targets.
- Work closely with embedded software engineers and mechanical design engineers to integrate electronic hardware seamlessly into actuator systems.
- Bring-up, troubleshoot integration issues, and optimize system performance across functional teams.
- Maintain meticulous documentation, including detailed schematics, PCB layout files, component libraries, BoM management, test procedures, and technical reports.
- Ensure design compliance with applicable industry standards (CE, RoHS, EMC directives) and support certification processes.
- Collaborate with sourcing specialists to select and evaluate component suppliers.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners for PCB production and SMT assembly.
- Mentor and assist team members.
Your skills and experience
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering or related field.
- 0- 4 years of experience in board-level hardware design.
- Embedded Systems & Microcontroller Programming: Deep knowledge of microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex-M, STM32, ESP32) is essential.
- Experience using tools Circuit Design, PCB Design & Simulation: Ability to use CAD tools like Altium Designer, KiCad, or OrCAD for schematic and multi-layer PCB layout.
- Mixed-Signal & Power Electronics: Strong skills in blending analogue measurements with digital control, alongside power semiconductor expertise (MOSFET, GaN, SiC) for energy/automotive applications.
- Hand-on experience from concept design, prototype, circuit drawing, calculation and simulation, PCB layout, Prototyping, Manufacturing and Testing
Soft skills
- Analytical Problem-Solving: Ability to debug hardware and software systematically.
- Collaboration: Working with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, software, manufacturing); Good communication, teamwork, and project-driving capability in cross-functional environments.
- Adaptability: Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly
- Fluent English in writing and speaking. Chinese or Japanese is preferred
Nice to have (plus if any – not mandatory)
- Understanding EMI/EMC, ESD, grounding, thermal, derating, and reliability requirements.
- Experience with lab bench debugging instruments: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, VNAs, power analyzers, protocol analyzers.
- IoT & Connectivity: Knowledge of wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE, LoRaWAN) and communication protocols (MQTT, I²C, SPI, CAN)
- Programming Proficiency: Proficiency in C/C++ is mandatory, with rising demand for Python for data analysis/automation and Rust for secure applications
- AI & Machine Learning (TinyML): Ability to deploy machine learning models on edge devices and microcontrollers.
