BRITISH UNIVERSITY VIETNAM (BUV)

POSITION PURPOSE

The Officer, ICT Support is responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to IT systems, hardware, or software. They respond to queries, run diagnostic programs, isolate problems, and determine and implement solutions.

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and networks.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to internal IT.
  • Provide technical support to users and resolve IT-related problems promptly.
  • Ensure the security of IT systems, including data backup, antivirus protection, and access controls.
  • Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance and security.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand IT requirements.
  • Document IT systems, configurations, and procedures for knowledge sharing and training.
  • Provide technical support for Academic and other departments in training, and event organization.
  • Other tasks as assigned by line manager and the ICT management team.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

COMPETENCIES (knowledge, skills, and abilities)

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in IT support or administration.
  • Strong technical knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, and macOS.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.

Desirable

  • Certification such as CCNA, MCSA, and ITIL 4 Foundation is preferred.
