Vietnam’s IT Market in 2026: The Race for Efficiency and Productivity
Entering 2026, Vietnam’s IT recruitment market is moving toward a more demanding reality and revealing what could be called a “productivity paradox.” While the average number of job applications per candidate has increased from 6.1 to 7.5, the number of actual job offers has remained stable at 2.7. This indicates intensifying competition and stricter hiring standards from employers, rather than signs of a declining market.
One of the key forces driving this shift is the rapid adoption of AI. Today, 96.8% of IT professionals report using AI daily to optimize workflows, from coding to testing. However, while 81.4% of businesses are still in the “exploration phase” for optimizing internal performance, up to 65.1% of units plan to increase their AI investment budget in the next 12 months to realize productivity growth targets.
Despite these pressures, overall employee engagement may appear stable on the surface, but underlying signals suggest potential fragility. A significant portion of IT professionals (37.7%) report a “neutral” level of job satisfaction, indicating a lack of strong trust or commitment toward their organizations. Notably, career advancement opportunities have become the weakest driver of satisfaction (22.2%), despite consistently ranking as one of the top priorities for IT talent. This gap suggests structural limitations in career development pathways rather than temporary dissatisfaction. (Source: IT Salary & Recruitment Market Report 2025-2026)
Overall, the IT market in 2026 remains active but is gradually approaching a new equilibrium, in which both employers and IT professionals are becoming increasingly selective, seeking greater alignment in values, performance expectations, and long-term growth.
