Job description

Location: Remote – Vietnam

Type: Full-Time Contractor

About us:

Automation Consulting Pty Ltd is an Australian-based AI and automation consultancy helping businesses streamline operations with smart, scalable solutions. Our clients include mid-sized retailers with complex e-commerce platforms hosted on Adobe Commerce (Magento 2). As we expand our Magento practice, we're searching for a top-tier Senior Magento Developer based in Vietnam to lead the enhancement and modernization of our clients' e-commerce capabilities.

This is a fully remote, long-term opportunity to work with a high-performing cross-functional team including a Project Manager, AI Consultant, and Designer - all driven by impact, innovation, and collaboration.

Role Overview:

In addition to Magento responsibilities, the ideal candidate will also contribute to modern web development initiatives using JAMstack architecture — which stands for JavaScript, APIs, and Markup. This includes work on internal tools and client-facing components using React, TypeScript, and Node.js. This ensures you stay engaged with impactful development work even when Magento-specific tasks are light. Key

Responsibilities:

• Platform Leadership: Maintain, upgrade, and optimize our Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) environment for stability, performance, and security.

• Custom Development: Design, develop, and maintain custom Magento modules and business logic tailored to the client's needs.

• App Builder Integration: Leverage Adobe App Builder to develop scalable, serverless, API-driven extensions for Magento SaaS and Adobe Commerce Cloud.

• Architecture Modernization: Lead the transition from a monolithic Magento instance to microservices or Adobe's SaaS commerce offering.

• Performance Optimization: Implement advanced caching (Redis, Varnish), tune databases, and identify and resolve bottlenecks for high-traffic performance.

• Third-Party Integrations: Manage integrations with tools like Afterpay, Zip Pay, Magezon, Amasty, and other APIs and services.

• Debugging & Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor and fix bugs, errors, and exceptions in the production environment.

• Collaboration: Work closely with the project manager, AI consultant, and designer to align on deliverables, timelines, and priorities.

• Documentation & Best Practices: Ensure clean, maintainable code and technical documentation that adheres to Magento and Adobe standards.

Your skills and experience

Requirements:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce, including advanced customization and complex implementations.

• Strong PHP and MySQL development skills, with knowledge of Magento's architecture (DI, EAV, layout XML, etc.)

• Proven experience with Adobe App Builder or serverless commerce extensions is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with JAMstack (JavaScript, APIs, and Markup) principles and tooling.

• Hands-on experience building frontend applications using React.js and TypeScript.

• Proficiency with Node.js for backend logic, APIs, and serverless functions.

• Ability to shift between Magento and full-stack JAMstack projects as needed.

• Proficiency with RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.

• Deep experience with performance tuning, caching layers, and DevOps-friendly workflows.

• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation

• Strong English communication skills (written & verbal)

• High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to work autonomously in an agile team environment Preferred Qualifications

• Adobe Certified Expert or Master Magento Developer certification.

• Experience migrating Magento monoliths to microservices or headless commerce

• Familiarity with cloud hosting, Docker, or serverless infrastructure.

• Previous work in high-volume e-commerce or retail platforms.
