IT Manager, Database Administrator’s (DBA’s) role is to strategically implement database solutions including data schema and database infrastructure. This position must work under minimal supervision by Project Managers, Business Analysts and Senior Database & Technology specialists and are primarily responsible for their own work.

IT Manager, Database Administrator is accountable for the security and protection of all corporate data and the performance of the overall database infrastructure.

Primary Job Functions

  • This section describes the primary /essential responsibilities that this job performs.
  • Install, maintain, and optimize databases and database infrastructure.
  • Work with database users and resolve data-specific problems.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert on database structure and design.
  • Assist IT and Business teams on new system design, development and implementation.
  • Ensure appropriate backup and restore processes.
  • Work with project managers to ensure that data entry, retrieval, change and delete functions meet business requirements for project completion.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on database technologies, development processes, and deployment processes.
  • Conduct job duties and responsibilities according to the organization’s business systems development methodology.
  • Provide technical support as necessary.
  • Maintain database performance by calculating optimum performance for database parameters; implement new releases; and completing maintenance requirements
  • Demonstrate the Company’s Core and Growth Values in the performance of all job functions.

Secondary Job Functions

  • This section describes the secondary responsibilities that this job performs.
  • Maintain reliable attendance.
  • Actively participate in departmental meetings, training and education. Assist with training other employees and providing backup.
  • Complete other assignments and special projects as requested.

Yêu cầu công việc

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related field, Required
  • 3 years in Information Systems experience or meets equivalent skill requirements, Required
  • Experience with database administration in SQL Server, Oracle or DB2 environments

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Competent in a variety of one or more of the following database technologies:
  • Microsoft (Windows, SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS); Oracle; IBM (AS400/iSeries, DB2) Database
  • Effective time management and organizational skills 
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge and discipline to document processes and infrastructure 
  • Effective at communicating and presenting ideas to management, customers and end users
  • Displays both technical competency and leadership
  • Capable to plan and complete a project of medium complexity
  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously within established time constraints 
  • Perform under strong demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Display empathy, understanding and patience with employees and external customers 
  • Respond professionally in situations with difficult employee/vendor/customer issues or inquiries

Schedule Expectations

  • Moderate Domestic Travel
  • Flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary.
