Job description

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team, responsible for building and maintaining the backend infrastructure for our AI-powered photo editing and education applications. You will design and optimize scalable, high-performance APIs and services, ensuring reliability and efficiency across our platforms.

This role focuses on backend development, but experience with AI services, computer vision, or LLMs is a plus. You will work with a modern tech stack, leveraging Python, Node.js, serverless architectures, and cloud technologies (GCP, Cloudflare, Firestore, MongoDB) to build robust, scalable backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services for AI-powered applications.
• Build scalable APIs and microservices with a focus on performance and security.
• Work with serverless architectures to ensure high availability and cost efficiency.
• Optimize database performance and design efficient data models for MongoDB, Firestore, and Cloudflare Workers.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud deployment strategies.
• Collaborate with AI engineers to integrate AI models into production, ensuring low-latency inference.
• Monitor system performance and optimize backend services for scalability and reliability.
• Stay updated on industry trends and bring best practices into the backend architecture.

Your Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in backend development with Python and/or Node.js.
• Strong expertise in API development, microservices architecture, and cloud-based applications.
• Experience with serverless computing (Cloudflare Workers, AWS Lambda, or GCP Cloud Functions).
• Proficiency in NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Firestore) and performance optimization techniques.
• Hands-on experience with message queues (Google Cloud Pub/Sub) and real-time data processing.
• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and security best practices for backend services.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines for production deployments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
