Job description

Shypyard is looking for a product-minded UI/UX designer who is comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment. This is a rare position to be a part of the founding design team and work directly with the Head of Product and CTO to design the future of e-commerce business operations.

This position starts out in an individual contributor role but has potential to grow into a managerial position as we hire more designers.

We are a hybrid-friendly company and this position can also be fully remote. We have presence in NYC and Taipei. The company is currently at seed stage, backed by leading VC investors in Silicon Valley. More public information about the company will soon be released in popular platforms (i.e TechCrunch)

  • Working with leadership to create Figma designs to address business and product needs
  • Full ownership of product design, including user research
  • Participating in team brainstorming and other relevant meetings

Your skills and experience

  • 3+ years of experience in UI/UX design, especially with workflow or data visualization software. Familiarity with all foundational UI/UX design techniques and principles. Solid product intuition and can link connect design output with product strategy
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, crucial for collaborating with engineers in a hybrid remote setting
  • Scrappy, startup mentality. Comfortable with imperfection, failing and iterating quickly
  • Interest in e-commerce, especially from the merchant perspective. Interested in making merchant's lives easier and more enjoyable. Not afraid to dive into nitty gritty of our merchants' day to day, including accounting, inventory, warehouse management, fulfillment, etc.
  • Professional fluency in English

Preferred Requirements

  • Typical adaptability required with working at a startup. May be asked to step in to solve many types of design challenges, including website design, and light graphic design
  • Experience working with many different platforms and device surfaces
  • Experience with planning and conducting user research with prototypes to validate design direction
  • Inclination towards leadership in the future
