Job description

 In this role, you will be the QA team for all our Data Platform and Integration products. You will be responsible for choosing the right tools and frameworks to measure and improve quality and performance. By leveraging the latest technologies combined with powerful internal frameworks, our QA code is embedded deeply into the engineering pipeline to catch faults and regressions as early as possible. Since our public safety products are mission-critical, you will drive our test strategy on ensuring that our products achieve high availability through such things as automated chaos testing. You will be a key part of the engineering organization, participating in architecture and design reviews, product planning, and prioritization and resourcing decisions. Your Day-to-Day

  • As a QA Engineer you will architect, design, and build test plans and automation to push our systems to their limits and beyond. What you build will have a huge impact on thousands of officers.
  • Work with engineers/product owners to understand complex customer usage models and develop test plans that approximate real-world environments.
  • Build software solutions where the problem is not well defined. You are capable of understanding the interaction between the components in a distributed system in order to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Drive software development process toward quality-centric methodologies and implement tools/dashboards for automated reporting on quality metrics.

Your skills and experience

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar technical field, or 3+ equivalent years of experience.
  • 5+ years software testing experience including test planning, strategy, test case creation and test automation (may be composed of experience as a developer, experience as a QA Engineer, or experience as an SDET).
  • Experience automating API testing.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in an engineering environment in driving operational excellence and best practices.
  • Experience with SQL and at least one other modern programming language such as Java or Python.
  • Understanding of QA processes and concepts including test case preparation, and testing methodologies.
  • Experience in translating requirements and acceptance criteria into tests and test scripts.
  • Experience with performance, scalability, and reliability testing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Data/ETL testing.
  • Strong organizational skills, tracking multiple test executions simultaneously and are able to synthesize the results.
  • Familiarity with methodologies of complex distributed systems.
  • Experience working with product owners defining, and refining user stories.
  • Agile Testing Experience in an agile development environment (e.g. SCRUM/XP/Kanban) with experience writing acceptance criteria for user stories.
  • Comfortable communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings.
