Job description
Role Purpose
We are currently looking for Manual Testers to provide technical testing expertise working as part of a cross-functional, self-organising and collaborative Agile and/or Waterfall development team. You will be required to work closely and communicate effectively with the team members including Product Owner, Engineers and other Testers to test stories and contribute to detecting and resolving defects. A primary focus of this role is the development of test cases, conducting testing within time frames and to detect defects in accordance with quality standards and specified timeframes. Work with team members to ensure test coverage is thorough and appropriate, and results are recorded and communicated. Work with product experts located in other countries, particularly United States.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to Agile and/or Waterfall project meetings (planning, reviews, etc) to understand user stories and acceptance criteria
- Write and execute test scenarios to ensure acceptance criteria are met
- Evaluate test results and accurately record defects
- Work within Agile sprint teams to conduct component and system level testing
- Support engineers to design testable software
- Ensure quality standards and procedures are followed at all times
- Produce clear and concise testing documentation
- Oversee and provide guidance to Manual Testers
Your skills and experience
Essential
- Good English written and verbal
- Professional communication skills, including familiarity with collaboration tools (e.g. Skype, MS Offfice)
- At least 2 - 5 years of commercial experience with software development or testing
- Strong analytical skills; ability to understand complex processes with rigorous attention to detail
Desirable
- Experience with story management and testing tools (e.g. Jira, Zephyr)
- Experience with the use of Automated Testing Tools and related scripting languages (e.g. Selenium)
- Experience in the energy utilities industry
- Experience with technical skills related to software development (e.g. PL/SQL, Java, SoapUI)
