Job description

We are looking for a Director of Software Engineering to take lead multiple R&D teams in Vietnam collaborating with several R&D teams in the globe in working on several products of the company. This is a unique opportunity to take part in shaping the future of the Episerver products and offerings.

Ideally you bring proven engineering leadership experience as well as significant engineering. You strive for excellence for your team and success of the company through collaboration within the team as well as with other Engineering leaders. You are comfortable with working in a fast-moving agile environment and working with many stakeholders globally.

As Director, Software Engineering you will

  • Own development and management of a broad functional area or multiple teams, including policies, processes, short and long-term vision, strategies to increase group effectiveness, productivity, and impact.
  • Lead multiple groups of engineers in delivering software solutions for a broad set of product lines, which may include product ownership across varied domains.
  • Manage directly several team leads and/or managers.
  • May act as local manager for several team leads and/or managers.
  • Develop and implement reliable, effective success metrics; identify and recommend changes   to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Keenly aware of all team’s metrics and can represent them to senior leadership as well as   drive the teams to improve performance around those metrics.
  • Organize and collaborate globally across multiple teams or departments to achieve cross-functional objectives.
  • Ensure the deliverables of teams with high quality and support long-term lifecycle of the products/services.
  • Promote the professional and personal growth of team members, through performance management and skills development, promotions, recognition, one-on-ones.
  • Accountable for full employee life cycle, including hiring, onboarding, goal alignment, work   assignment, coaching/performance management, compensation planning, developing managers/team leads and addressing resource gaps.
  • Take care of company culture and working environment as native operations.
  • Steadily pursue self-improvement, particularly in the areas of management and engineering leadership.

Your skills and experience

  • You have 10+ years of software product engineering or relevant experience with up-to-date technologies.
  • You have 4+ years of engineering management experience.
  • You have broad and deep software engineering knowledge, ideally both in frontend and backend development, and take ownership of teams with varied specialties.
  • You have excellent understanding in building and maintaining software products and/or frameworks and/or services.
  • You understand well the business perspective and maintain current understanding of industry developments which may affect Episerver's business or strategic plans.
  • You are a great communicator and collaborator.
  • You are someone who always looks for improvements. You are excellent in receiving feedbacks from team members as well as giving feedbacks to them in a constructive way.
  • You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • You have excellent planning and facilitation skills and significant experience leading agile teams.
