Job description

You will collaborate with our UX/UI team and other engineers to optimize existing product offerings as well as create new cutting-edge implementations in support of manufacturer, consumer, and end-user requirements while supporting our ODM and OEM manufacturing partners.

Bumble is now seeking for an Data Architect (Python, Java) to join our energetic team. As a Data Architect, you will be part of our Data & Analytics Engineering team, collecting and controlling data infrastructure then dig into analytics and insights.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop, deploy, and maintain data solutions and resources that support business analytics and insights. 
  • Develop and own large portions of the master project while also looking for ways to increase the efficiency, scalability, and performance of essential data pipelines. 
  • Assisting Data Scientists and Analytics Engineers with day-to-day activities of the team, such as maintaining and upgrading toolsets, scripts, and frameworks. 
  • Develop, construct, test, deploy, and run data-driven solutions in collaboration with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, Reliability Engineers, and Field Engineers. 
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot device failures, use the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) approaches. 
  • Contribute to data product quality improvement through optimization, testing, and tool creation.

Your skills and experience

  • Have a BS or MS degree in computer science, statistics, or equivalent practical experience in Data Engineering
  • Ability to work hard and cooperate in a group environment while still being able to give and receive feedback
  • Solid background in one of related Data jobs (Data Architecture, Data Modeling, Data Infrastructure Optimization...)
  • At least 4 years of working experience in creating, controlling and optimizing distributed data processing systems such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Presto, Flink, Kafka...
  • Familiar with deploying, managing and using both Relational databases (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle) and non-relational/analytics databases (Cassandra, MongoDB, Druid)
  • Deep understanding in software engineering (using Python, Java etc.) and can build quality, scalable data solutions
  • Experienced in using open file formats (Parquet, JSON, ORC, CSV etc.) and storage technologies such as S3, Azure Blobstore, HDFS...
  • Knowledge of deploying and using modern data science toolkits like Jupyter Notebook, Zeppelin, Superset, Tensor Flow...
  • Knowledge of software development methods, tools, and processes such as source control (Git), functional or object-oriented programming, test-driven development, agile analytics development, functional decomposition of systems, and continuous integration/deployment (CICD)
  • Proficient in implementing and maintaining cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Clear communicator that can describe complicated concepts in straightforward and succinct terms
  • Experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining solutions in a container environment (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Enthusiastic and professional at providing excellent customer service to end users.

Desired Characteristics

  • Working experience in controlling and implementing security within data systems
  • Familiar with deploying and using system monitoring tools like Prometheus, New Relic, Elastic Stack, Grafana, SolarWinds etc.
  • Ability to create and consume Web APIs such as ReST, gRPC
  • Experience in building and managing search solutions like Solr/Elastic Search.
  • Prior basic knowledge and skills about project management.
