Job description
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers
- Ensure efficient and open communication is maintained internally within the IT department to ensure a cohesive team
- Ensure systems and processes adhere to appropriate policies
- Promote a professional and positive image in line with customer service policy
- The cloud engineer will provide support for cloud-based workloads as escalated from the service desk and on a proactive basis
- Understanding and awareness of the group’s organizational and operating processes
- Awareness of data protection, security, and privacy issues
- Ability to quickly understand complex problems and devise effective solutions to minimize delays in resolving and avoiding system outages
- Ensure that the IT services support processes are followed correctly, and all support requests are documented, triaged, and resolved in a consistent and professional manner
- Monitor the emergence of issues into recurring problems and work to identify and resolve the underlying cause
- Ensure that security (confidentiality, integrity & availability) is considered when implementing any change or system
- Follow principal of least privilege to ensure that access to the system is limited as much as possible
- Provide continuous support and guidance to less senior colleagues through regular coaching activities and support them in fulfilling their personal development plans
Your skills and experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university with major course work in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field
- At least 2 years practical in Cloud/DevOps Engineer experience
- Champion the use of DevOps. E.g.: (CI / CD, Version control, Automation, Infrastructure as Code)
- Familiar with some core technologies: Containers (Docker, ECS), IaaS solutions (EC2), PaaS based solutions (RDS), Serverless (lambda, DynamoDB), Networking (eg: VPC), Windows and Linux based system administration, and core technologies SaaS-based solutions (eg: Amazon Connect, Azure DevOps), Identity management and integration (eg: SAML), Infrastructure as Code (eg: CloudFormation, Packer)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or strong fundamental knowledge of AWS technologies
- Ability to quickly understand complex problems and devise effective solutions to minimize delays in resolving and avoiding system outages
- Be happy to coach, mentor and train less senior colleagues
