Business Intelligence Developer

Job description

The Business Intelligence Developer position will be responsible for providing vital support to the advancement of the Technology Department. The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for design, develop and maintaining business intelligence solutions using Microsoft BI tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyze requirements, design and develop business intelligence applications to meet business needs
• Enable reporting, portals, dashboards by the creation of cubes, frameworks, and other methods for SQL Server databases.
• Performing source data analysis to develop ETL and/or data delivery solutions that meet business needs.
• Support business users by answering complex business questions via BI tools and ad-hoc queries.
• Perform data validation and unit testing on new data provided to the business.
• Collaborate with other technical and business resources to establish cross-functional BI standards and policies.
• Actively participate in peer-reviews in order to set and maintain the highest level of quality for the team
• Train the business community on the technology developed by the team in order to empower self-service BI when applicable.
• Participate in requirements gathering sessions; work together with users to find the best possible solution to a given business problem

Your skills and experience

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Strong SQL skills required
• Experience with Microsoft BI tools SSRS, SSAS, and SSIS
• Experience building frameworks, cubes and reports
• Experience with Data profiling, cleansing, mapping, transformation and de-duplication
• Ability to work with big datasets
• Ability to work independently as well as to collaborate with team members
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and can translate complex technical terms into non-technical language that can be understood by business reporting users and leadership
• Open-minded to new approaches to solve problems; think outside the box
• Experience in gathering business requirements if needed
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience in data analysis (preferred)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• 4+ years of experience working in Business Intelligence, with strong database concepts
• Bachelor degree or above .
• Background in finance concepts, practices, and procedures a plus
